PROPER BRUSHING TECHNIQUE:

Using a soft-bristle brush and a toothpaste that is accepted by the ADA, start on your:

  1. Outside front teeth
    • Hold brush at a 45º angle - where teeth and gums meet
    • Gently move brush sideways - using short strokes
  2. Outside & Inside back teeth
    • Use short angled brush strokes - brushing booth teeth & gums
  3. Inside front teeth
    • Use up and down strokes
  4. Chewing surfaces
    • hold brush flat on surface
    • brush back and forth

PROPER FLOSSING TECHNIQUE:

  1. Using a piece of floss around 18 inches long, wrap it around your middle fingers.
  2. Gently slide the floss between two teeth and rub the floss up and down against the surface each tooth.
  3. Repeat the process for each tooth, including behind the back teeth.
  4. To avoid injury, never snap the floss into the gums.
